I know I've been out of commission for a while, but I'm ready to update! Shellee has been crazy busy with weddings, and is still working on the editing the pictures and James just moved to New York, so I don't have a logo yet either. It's really okay, though, because I've made a big decision about Crumbs. :) I am trying to get back into school into the Baking & Pastry program at The Art Institute of Salt Lake City. I'm hoping I can find some scholarships so I can go full force. I want Crumbs to succeed and I want it to be the best bakery it can be. I honestly feel that working towards a degree in baking and pastry will help me to do that. So, for now Crumbs in on hold. I'm still making cakes and cupcakes and baking like crazy, so if anyone needs anything, let me know!!! Thanks for all your support!
candy inspiration
Monday, March 2, 2009
James and I worked on the new logo today! I'm really excited about what we've come up with. It's kinda 'New York Runway meets Subway'... sort of. Regardless, it will look amazing once it's done and Crumbs will have a face. :)
I'm trying to decide what cupcakes to make for the photo shoot. I'm not sure how I want to decorate them, but I am open to suggestions! If anyone has ideas, let me know. I generally get my inspiration from standing in the candy aisle until I see some that 'speaks' to me. I know that sounds silly, but that's how it works!

logo!
Saturday, February 28, 2009
I'm meeting with James this weekend to go over ideas for the logo. I'm pretty excited about that! I'm not really sure how to describe the style I'm going for, though. Shellee has some fantastic ideas for the pictures, (which we are taking this coming Friday afternoon!). I'd like to take Shellee's ideas and use them for the basis of the logo. I guess we'll see if James understands what I'm trying to say!

why I love cake
Friday, February 27, 2009
Cake has always been a happy, little pleasure for me. When I sit down with a piece of cake or a cupcake, the world feels right. It's my comfort food. I will eat almost any kind of cake, except chocolate. I'll make it for you, and I've been told that my chocolate cake is 'amazing', but I just don't like the taste of it. My absolute favorite cake is strawberry cake with Cool Whip and sliced strawberries on top. It's sweet, but it's also very fresh and tastes fantastic! I also love mini cupcakes. They're like Mary Poppins: practically perfect in every way!

valentines' and easter cupcakes
Thursday, February 26, 2009
I know, Shellee, I know. I really should leave the photography to the professionals. But these cupcakes turned out so cute I can't not post them! I'm especially happy with the Easter cupcakes. I made them this afternoon and I'm pretty proud of them! So, here they are!

coming soon...
Wednesday, February 25, 2009
Working in the wedding industry has given me some sweet connections! I have about a million other things I'm doing, and for one of them I had professional head shots taken. (They can be seen here: http://www.forevermoreevents.blogspot.com or here: http://www.photographybyshelleeblog.blogspot.com .) Shellee Draper took the pictures, and has agreed to take pictures of my rad cupcakes for me! So, I'll have pictures up soon, (hopefully! If I ever decide I have an afternoon to play!). Also, my friend James is designing a logo for me! Yea to both! Crumbs is finally coming together in it's own little rite!
I'm hoping to have a booth at the What Women Want Expo in May. It's kind of expensive for a new little business, but I really want to be there and am determined to make it happen! (That said, give me a call if you need some cupcakes!!)

If anyone has ideas or would like me to try something specific, give me a call! I'm working on a menu and price list, and am open to suggestions. :)

spaghetti and meatballs
Monday, February 2, 2009
I have always loved to bake, but as of late, it has become more than that. One day I will have my own shop and all of you will be able to come and see me!!
When I was a kid I would always try to convince my mom to let me eat leftover birthday cake for breakfast. By the time I was a teenager she stopped telling me cake isn't breakfast food, and I decided cake for breakfast was the best idea I had ever had! Since those days I have perfected the cupcake recipes I love the most.
A friend told me the other day that she wanted to see pictures of my cupcakes and I realized I only had a few pictures. I promised to remember the pictures next time!! So, for now, I give you spaghetti and meatballs!
